Lately I’ve been noticing this trend in which people say things like, “uggh I hate it when porn blogs reblog my naked photos/erotica they are so NOT PORN.”

Okay, peeps. Fair. I get it. It’s not cool for someone to misrepresent your photo-intentions. Photos speak for themselves. Everyone should totally get that a naked photo of you is art, and not pornographic. Everyone should get that pornography is not art. And that you, your body is not a graphic, explicit body/ a body of violence or exploitation. Your body, is a work of ART. You are a confession in silk. Where does that indignation come from, baby? You never have your body get misrepresented before? Is it because of how unmarked you are? Misrepresentation never happens on the internet, lucky you. Well. Maybe it never happens to cis or non-queer gendered white able bodied people at least. A naked white traditionally able bodied “lady” or “man” being naked- you see that can be art, that can even be tasteful. As soon as a trans/disabled/person of color/trans disabled person of color gets naked you see, that’s explicit. That’s fetishistic. That naaaaasty. It doesn’t matter if we are touching ourselves, or reading a book, mowing the lawn, or eating a burger.

Well you know what? Sure. I AM NASTY. I am explicit. I am proud of it. I am also thoughtful, tender, and FULL OF TASTE. Tasteful, even.

Here’s my other question, what on earth differentiates a blog that features porn from a blog that features erotica or nudity? In the modeling world, we hear a lot of strange differentiations, like, “Tasteful Nudity”, “Erotica”, “Art Modeling”, “Figure Modeling”, “Implied Nudity”, “Pornographic”, “Adult”, “NSFW”, “BDSM”, “Art Porn”, “Graphic Content”…

What the fuck does graphic mean when we are talking about visual art? Also… wait for it, “IMPLIED NUDITY.” I know, I know.

When does erotica become porn? I had a member of the Revolutionary Communist Party tell me that erotica became porn when there was degradation of its subjects involved. This person also told me that it was not my fault I was [choosing] to be degraded. Ha.

When does a body become an explicit body?

Are you ashamed to be associated with a porn blog? Is this a porn blog if it includes writing, critique, poetry, and rants?

Is it a porn blog when it gets inside you? When it gets inside me? When you can see someone’s insides? When you can imagine the way they move? Is it the “implied motion”? Is dry humping porn? Is it even the nudity at all? Is it porn if it’s animals having sex? Is the Discovery Channel “Adult”? Is it porn if it’s all just fruit or mud or clay? Is it porn if it turns you on? Is it porn if it’s fast, or sloooow? Is it porn if it’s violent? Is it porn if it’s gentle? Is it porn if it bleeds, sheds, leaks, comes undone? Is it porn if it undoes you?

Jw, babe.
