(Intro music)
Q: What was your favorite part about the shoot?
Jaq: I think getting to fist you. (Laughs) I’ve never done that before. So I was very excited that you asked. And, yeah, it was a lot of fun.
Q: Yay!
Q: My favorite part was, finally getting to maul you! When I met you the first time was on stage. Even with a mask on, hella cute! Wait, can’t flirt. You’re being paid to do this. You’re working right now. Mm.
Jaq: I like it when a professional loses their cool
Q: Oh, okay. I see. (Laughs) I’ll remember that. Noted.
Jaq: (Chuckles)
Q: What was most challenging about the shoot today for you?
Jaq:Â
We didn’t get to chat beforehand, and I’m a nervous person so I was like, “What are we gonna do?” But obviously, we had no problems. It was just the mental game.Â
Q: Same. Not having a chance…Because the things that I did ask you while you’re doing other stuff… I figured we’d have more time and then you know, traffic, Bay Bridge. Meh. No.Â
Jaq: What are your safer sex practices, and why?
Q: Depends on who I’m with. For myself, I generally am getting tested on a regular basis. I like barriers more because it is a makes for smoother transitions when fucking. it’s easier
Jaq: Oh, I never thought of that!
Q: Yeah! Cause I’m efficient, if nothing else. That way, in case I have a ripped nail, or a hangnail, or something like that. I’m not making someone comfortable. And yes, I’m aware of transmissible things and things like that. But I also – most of the partners I have are people that I’ve been with for a while. Established partners. With new people, I’m a little more hesitant about things. I’m definitely into barriers for oral, as well as on toys and things like that. But also it makes it so easy to clean up.
Jaq: True.
Q: And for you?
Jaq: I get tested monthly (Laughs) So I’m very much like “know your status” and probably my first line of defense is taking care of my business. So I get tested regularly. I know my status, I’m on PrEP. I choose to talk to people about their status and their risk management and I want to be conscious of that. and I’m always down to use protection as well. I kind of gauge who I’m with whether they are an established partner or not what they’re doing as well on their own time, because I’m poly and I’m always down to use barriers and protection, cause… It’s fun. Either way.
Q: Have you done porn before?
Jaq: Yeah. (Laughs)
Q: Why do you continue to do porn?
Jaq: I continue to do porn because I fucking love it. It’s a lot of fun. I get to meet so many people
And honestly I’ve met so many other queer and trans people through doing porn, and I’ve made so many friends, which is awesome. I just feel understood by so many people I meet. and that’s something that had been scarce for a long time in my life so I guess, the fun and sexy community. What about you?
Q: I’ve been doing porn for a hot minute (Laughs) and I still hold to — the reason why I started what that I wanted folks who look like me to see representations of themselves that was actually erotic and not fetishized and that was fun and authentic so I stumbled in the CrashPad and have yet to leave. (laughs) I’ve done a couple other things too, and I enjoy it. Again. Meeting cool people all these really awesome amazing nerdy type nervous humans that’s what I discovered is that at least for queer porn in my life most of the people I’ve met are nerdy smart awesome amazing humans… who want to do things in the world, want to make the world a better place, in some way, shape or form. And I think to have that be the underlying thing for most people, at least in the the circles of queer porn that I’m involved with, I really like it.
I find that to be quite a big feat to maintain over the years, especially given that I started because I watched a lot of porn because I worked for a company long before it was one that was online.
So I saw all the stuff and I never saw me. And then I’d go to events and there was — it was always real cagey and cutthroat and kind of just wasn’t friendly. I did not want to make friends when I went to those things. You’re mean! So I really appreciate that there’s an opportunity still for CrashPad to still be going on and for so many people who were finding their way into their queer identities or queer self or their sexual identities. That we’re still here. Kicking it.
Jaq: I like that.
Q: What was your favorite thing about quarantine?
Jaq: I got extra unemployment from California. No actually… don’t say that…My favorite thing about quarantine was it did give me this weird unique moment to change my life completely, where I left the work that I was doing before I left the program I was in school and totally pivoted to working in content creation and I’ve never been happier. I was really burned out before and quarantine gave me a chance to reboot my whole life. And I started transitioning. So, that was cool. Actually, yeah a lot of good things came out of quarantine and not being perceived all the time in ways that I couldn’t control let me experiment with how I wanted to present just for me and who I was when no one was watching me all the time.
Q: That’s awesome.
Jaq: What about you? What was your favorite thing about quarantine?
Q: I don’t know if I have… Well… I think my favorite thing about quarantine is I somehow managed to fall in love with someone who lives in another country, we met just before quarantine started and started flirting, a few months into the year and we’re still together. It’s been an amazing relationship. She’s my first mommy dynamic – cause I’m a leather human. And I got to admit, the quarantine meant that I didn’t have to show up for things for leather. I hold a couple titles, so it’s high holy days for leather around here now, so there’s this thing going on in that thing going on and that thing going on. So there’s an expectation that I will show up if things are going on and “we need to have another person on this panel” etc… and it’s hard for me to say “no” cuz I want to be there for my community, but it was good to not even have to worry about it and just be home. I actually the biggest thing that came out of COVID for me out of quarantine was I redid my space. My bedroom specifically because I’ve been living in this house for almost 10 years, over ten years now, and I had these flat white walls and I didn’t realize how much it made me nuts.
(laughs)
I’ll just paint this one wall, this one accent color. And fuck this, we going for it! So I’ve got accent walls. Got this tropical Miami green on the other part of the wall. Oh my god.
Jaq:Â
I love green rooms. So soothing
Q:Â
It’s green and blueish and changed my wardrobe — not my wardrobe – all of my furniture and stuff. I actually bought myself my first grown up bedroom set.
Jaq:Â
(applauds)
Q:Â
It’s not piecemeal. Look! I’m an adult! Don’t mind the stuffies on my bed…
Jaq:Â
I just bought a mattress, for the first time ever.
Q:
High five! Those things are expensive!
Jaq: So, high five!
Q: (sings) Adulting! At a slower pace. That’s what quarantine did for me.
(laughs)
Q:
Puppies, Kitties, Daddies, Mommies,
Littles, Bigs, Middles… all of them…
you have a place that you deserve to feel erotic energy about yourself.
You deserve to have that in your life. You’re worthy of that. Finding that peace in your life
That erotic energy and someone that you can share that with, but you don’t have to share with anyone other than yourself especially if you haven’t done it before, do the things that feel sexy to you, screw what anyone else has to say, get you some LIZZO on on repeat and follow her instructions and you’ll be fine.
Life will be good and don’t let other people tell you what’s sexy. What is good? That’s them. That’s their thing. Do you and you’ll find there are a lot of other people who like you just the way you are.
Jaq: Shame is made up to control people, be shameless, pursue ecstatic joy and read Walt Whitman. (laughs)
