Dee: So… what was your favorite part about the shoot today?

Billy: I really enjoyed… well, I really enjoyed having other folks shoot us, cuz I usually do most of our shooting and so we get so many more interesting angles. So we get to try out the stuff that we –

Dee: What was challenging about the shoot today?

Billy: I wanted you to ride my face at one point. And when we do that at home, there’s a wall that you brace yourself on and lean against! And… and… I sat up and I was like, “I need you to… (gestures at the lack of a wall)… lay back down I guess!”

(laughs)

Dee: Cause we’ve explicitly talked about…
Billy: Cause I’m not gonna just do that to you!

Dee: (stammers as if falling off the bed)

Billy: Yeah, no we’ve almost done that before.
Dee: I’ve certainly almost fallen off the bed when we try to do it the other way.

Billy: Right and because I care about you, I came up with other options.

Dee: You didn’t let me fall off your face.
Billy: But that WAS a challenge. Yeah there was no wall! And I wanted my face ridden. Anyway… what challenges did you encounter?

Well, since we shoot professionally, I get tested every few weeks to a month before and after every shoot and I exchange that information with the other person discuss the risk assessment things. Gloves are like, hot and great!

Billy: Gloves are hot and fun, yeah.

Dee: I don’t think I’ve ever fisted you with a glove on? Anyway…We should do that! But anyway. Barriers when we discuss when we need to, things like that and just being upfront about people and things. What about you? What are your safer sex practices?

Billy: I get tested regularly because I do this for a living. I use barriers when pregnancy is a concern. Or barriers for penetration with anyone outside the industry, but if testing and pregnancy… Like, if someone is tested, and pregnancy is not a concern… I don’t always use them. But we negotiate that upfront, because we are fluid-bonded. So my germs are your germs and we collaborate on those decisions.

(Laughs)

Dee: Have you done porn before?

Billy: I have!

Dee: Why do you keep doing it?

Billy: I have done porn before. I… I do porn because I’m an exhibitionist and I like getting off on camera. There is a particular flavor of getting off on camera that is a flavor of sex that I enjoy. So porn is a way to do that, certainly. But the broader reasons is because during… as a part of my transition, one of the things I was most nervous about was that I wouldn’t get to be “hot” on the other end… that I wouldn’t get to be an object of desire, or whatever, especially as a transmasc person.

Billy: Society’s complicated things around sexualizing men obviously but trans men… I don’t even see a ton of “me” out there all that often. Like I do with everything in my life, I’m like, “I don’t see it happening; I’m gonna go do it loudly.” And people seem to find that helpful. So I keep doing it.

Dee: I think you should!

Billy: Yeah! And hopefully I am hot on camera and that proves to other people… It sounds arrogant to just definitively be like, I’m definitely hot on camera!

Dee: *I* will arrogantly and definitively say that you are hot on camera!

Billy: Yeah, and that’s a good role model. Or something.

Dee: What has been your favorite part of quarantine?

Billy: I have had a lot of time to focus on the day to day of my life and building that into a life that I want and recognizing and understanding my priorities. I was able to move out and live on my own and I have just gotten better at a lot of the what seemed like basic skills of being an adult and being a human in the world, whether those are emotional or practical and as a person with ADHD. Those are all things that I struggle with, and this has been an opportunity to focus on that and not much else and when I’m able to regulate my attention to do that has felt really great.

Dee: Yeah! Yeah! That makes a lot of sense.

Billy: Yeah. What’s your favorite thing about quarantine?

Dee: I think my favorite thing about quarantine has been kind of the unexpected serendipity of the changes that wouldn’t have happened, had we not found ourselves in these sorts of situations. You moving to Philly is one of them obviously. And yeah, if you would have said like, “Hey guess what? In a year THIS will happen.” We would have never been able to guess what led to that and why and things. But like now you have a nice shiny apartment. And you know, I’ve reconnected with family members I wouldn’t have known otherwise. I’ve really figured out who my friends are. Things like that. I don’t know. I’ve heard a lot of different things from different people who wouldn’t have discovered a new career, or a new person, or a new anything… if we weren’t in this whole, hell-hole together. So yeah.

Billy: Yeah.
