VOC: Yes.

Interview

VESPUR: How did you enjoy the shoot today?

RIFE: I had a really good time, obviously. How about yourself?

VESPUR: I thought this was very fun. I like that I feel like I got to have real sex in front of cameras.

RIFE: As opposed to fake sex?

VESPUR: As opposed to fake sex which I have done in the past that is not as fun. It has its own fun quality but this was much more real and powerful. I liked the way you fucked me, I liked that I got to do some of my favorite things, and it’s been sweet connecting with you.

RIFE: Yeah, I’m so glad you asked me to do this with you.

VESPUR: mm-hmm.

RIFE or VESPUR: Is that okay if we change positions when we lean up against the bed?

VOC: yeah, we really can’t.. it’s hard for us to..

RIFE or VESPUR: oh it’s harder.. no problem.. we can just stay.

VOC: to see stuff.

VESPUR: Can I have a drink of water.

VOC: Thank you.

RIFE: So what was challenging about the shoot?

VESPUR: ooh, challenging was leading up to it and having fears that my body wouldn’t be able to do, somehow like a fear of not being able to show up and be myself.. um, to be real and authentic and relaxed and get caught up in like, oh I have to be this certain way to get some externalized approval, or to fit into some category of what’s hot, or something about that. So I had anxiety, you know, coming here, um..

RIFE: I think you really did great.

VESPUR: It felt really good.. it felt really good. I felt safe with you, safe here, sweet space to be in. It’s exciting to be out here in the Bay Area and..

RIFE: Yeah, welcome to the Bay!

VESPUR: I have a reason to come visit. Um yeah, what was challenging for you?

RIFE: uh I don’t know. I keep um.. I always laugh, I smile a lot. I’m not good at that like stoned, like serious-look sexy face.

VESPUR: Whatever laughing is totally sexy, at least in my book. What else?

RIFE: I’m a bit of an exhibitionist; I’ve never had a problem with that side.

VESPUR: Yeah, I know..

RIFE: Just a little bit.

VESPUR: ..it’s fun to be in front of the cameras.

RIFE: So have you done this stuff before?

VESPUR: um, I’ve done various types of sex work stuff, most of it was like awhile ago and always in a straight context.

RIFE: So what made you decide to do this one?

VESPUR: Well, I feel like I wanted to be a part of porn and sexual expression and exhibitionism in a queer context.. um to experience what that was like and to sort of like connect with and validate and strengthen my own sexuality and what I.. it’s almost more um.. it’s part of a journey of shifting from how it looks into how it feels and being able to be real, and be myself ultimately and then shine. So this felt like an important fun thing that I wanted to do and also contribute and be a part of this whole world, I feel like this movement of empowered sexual expression for queers.. yeah it’s.. yeah.. what was the question again?

VESUPR: How are you feeling?

RIFE: oh my god..

VESPUR: Oh you did so good. (inaudible)

VESPUR: So why, why do you do porn.. this isn’t your first time, huh? You’ve done a couple of things.

RIFE: I’ve done a couple smaller studios.. uh, I feel like I totally get off on it. I think queer porns the best cause it’s people I’d be fucking anyway.. and in the kinds of ways that I like to. Um, and I feel like this is kind of like the holy grail of queer porn in some ways.

VESPUR: Yeah!

RIFE: So it was really great when you asked.. oh of course.

VESPUR: Yeah, I’m so delighted that these guys got back in touch with me, it’s been meaningful. Um, so now we have like anything else we want to share?

RIFE: I feel real good about it, I can’t wait to see how it turns out.

VESPUR: yeah.. um yeah.. it’s sweet, I feel more whole and integrated. I feel like it’s important to take these journeys to try things that require courage, like pushing myself to be bold, in the way of like, being real I feel is powerful, and it feels good to contribute to a project like this, to the world in this way. Um, I feel like the more real, powerful, good sexual experiences that are had, it just feeds that into the collective, and it helps diminish sort of this collective visceral trauma piece that a lot of us carry, and I’ve definitely carried sexual assault trauma, so this feels like, yes I can be sexual, and it’s beautiful, and it’s strong, and it’s mine.. that feels good. Yeah, super thankful.
