[Multiple shots of crew, Shine Louise Houston, Papí Coxxx and Micah Riot between takes and during the shoot]
(clap)
Shine: Thank you. Annnnnd, back on Micah… so, umm, what I want you to do is, like, when I say ‘action’, maybe wait, like, three seconds—
Papí: Mmhmm.
Shine: —you know, ‘cause like the, the sound effect of the, the ring—
Papí: Mmhmm.
Shine: —is gonna happen, and then, um, start going into dialogue.
Micah: Dude, what the hell?
(phone rings)
Papí: They’re not picking up.
(phone rings)
Micah: Try’em again.
(phone rings)
Papí: I don’t think they’re gonna show.
Micah: What’re we gonna do, man?
Papí: I dunnnnno, whaddayou wanna do?
Shine: Let’s hold right there. That was awesome; I wanna get those shots tighter—
Papí: Mmkay.
Micah: Mmm.
Shine: —‘cause, um, yeah.
(everyone laughs)
Papí: Do I sound shitty saying “The girls”? I just thought of that, does that sound shitty? Or should I say something else.
(out of frame): Like what?
Papí: Names, like Micah was saying, instead of saying “The girls”—
(out of frame): Uhhh…
Papí: —does it sound… sexist?—
(out of frame): Hmm.
Papí: —shitty?
(out of frame): You can, you could also say just like “They’re not showing up.”
Papí: ‘Cause I—we wanna make sure that they know that they’re, like, female-identified.
(out of frame): Mmm.
(out of frame): Gotcha.
Micah: ‘Cause we’re fags now, and we’re not supposed to be.
Papí: Exactly.
(everyone laughs)
Micah: We—but—I think the girls thing is fine—
(out of frame): Yeah…
Micah: —‘cause it’s a stereotype, we’re playing out these macho stereotypes.
(out of frame): Yeah.
Papí: Ok, I just wanted to check, I just wanted to check.
(out of frame): That’s a good question, though, good question.
(out of frame): At least you’re not saying, like, “Those sluts,” like—
(out of frame): Right, right, no, no.
Papí: Yeah, no, no…
(out of frame): Not that slut—not that that’s bad.
Papí: No. I’m a slut, so it’s ok. (laughs)
(out of frame): Ok, so—
[Fade to alternating shots of Micah and Papí talking after the shoot]
Micah: How’d you like the shoot today?
Papí: Umm, I enjoyed it, I liked the, the concept that we played with, umm, the little, uh, idea, that, uh, we were waitin’ for some girls to come, and then we decided to, you know, get it on.
Micah: Mmm.
Papí: It was taboo shit (laughs) You know.
Micah: Yeah, I like how we played with gender there.
Papí: Yeah.
Micah: I liked playing out stereotypes but also subverting them, and… playing different stereotypes than, kinda what we are—
Papí: Mmm.
Micah: —as far as the queer world.
Papí: Yeah. yeah, I kinda liked that.
Micah: Mmhmm.
Papí: So, umm… what did you like about the shoot today?
Micah: Well, you have great energy.
Papí: Mmm.
Micah: Really enjoyable. It was great to make porn with you.
Papí: Thanks. Ditto. Yeah, I liked the pushing and the—I liked the, there was some softness but then there was also some roughness to it, so it was really, umm, good. It was intense.
Micah: Yes. I liked that too.
[Fade to multiple shots of crew et. al. talking between takes]
Shine: Ahh, so at this point, this is when I—I give my spiel, so, you’ve already heard it again, but, uh, once again, we just want to run the, the scene as smoothly as possible, so we’re gonna try not to call hold, but at any point in, um, the shooting if you wanna call hold, ‘cause you’re too hot, too cold, need water, need lube, need anything to stop—
Micah: Mmhmm.
Shine: —umm, you can always call hold and, don’t worry about the cameras—
Micah: Mmhmm.
Shine: —umm, it’s our job just to direct the cameras, you guys just do what you’re gonna do.
Papí: Uhuh, ok.
Micah: Uh, maybe now is the time for us to put on the harnesses?
[Fade to multiple shots of Micah and Papí in scene]
[Fade to alternating shots of Papí and Micah talking after the shoot]
Papí: Did you find anything challenging about it?
Micah: Not particularly, I mean a few times it was kinda like “Ok, I have to reach for a glove” and—
Papí: (laughs)
Micah: —somehow that plastic little bag didn’t look too sexy to me.
(both laugh)
Micah: Like, maybe next time there should be a velvet—black velvet bag—
Papí: Oh yeah.
Micah: —or something.
Papí: Or someone just giving us the glove like that. (laughs)
Micah: A magic appearance of the glove?—
Papí: Yes! (laughs)
Micah: —or, magic disappearance of the one thing—
Papí: “Glove me.”
Micah: —appearance of the other thing.
Papí: (laughs)
Micah: Yeah. Umm, but yeah, it was pretty smooth I thought.
Papí: Mmm.
Micah: What did you think?
Papí: Umm, I mean, every time before a shoot I always get nervous or I wonder how it’s gonna look, and because it was live stream, I was like, you know, people watching it as it happens right now, so—I think it wasn’t challenging, it was just, um, a little nervous at, at first but then I totally got into it and forgot about it.
Micah: Yeah, yeah it was pretty much like that for me too. I didn’t think about the live thing actually, it was just the—there was an awareness, once in a while, was like “Oh, people are watching us and filming us.”
Papí: Yeah. (laughs)
Micah: It was good.

Micah: You’ve done a lot of porn. Why do you keep doing it?
Papí: Oh, there’s so many reasons. Uh, I like doing porn because, umm, one, it gives visibility to, like, queer sex, umm, and as a person of color, like, umm, POC queer sex, umm, fantasy, um, shit that we kinda, like, fantasize about but really don’t say out loud. Um, uh, also, as a trans, genderqueer-identified person it feels good to, uh, show my body and how I use it, as, you know, as an individual, you know, because we kinda, like, get categorized in this, you know, lumped into this one thing that this is how genderqueer trans people wanna have sex, but, I think with stuff like this we get to, you know, break boundaries and continue to show all the different, beautiful, fucked up, nasty ways—
Micah: (laughs)
Papí: —we can have sex. So, I like—I like using my body in that way, and it’s art to me as well.
Micah: Mmhmm.
Papí: And plus, I’m an exhibitionist, so—
Micah: Oh yeah.
(both laugh)
Papí: What about you?
Micah: I like hot energy, and I think it should be out there for the world to see and get inspired by. And then, I mean, pretty much all the same stuff you said. You know, politically, I think it’s great. I think it’s about education and about openness, being open to the world about who you are—
Papí: Mmhmm.
Micah: —and not being ashamed of it. I think it helps erase shame around sexuality in general—
Papí: Yeah.
Micah: —and gender in particular, and queer sex.
Papí: Yes, queer sex is hott!
Micah: Yes, yes it is. (both laugh)
[Cut to a shot of Micah and Papí in scene]
Shine: Thank you.
(clap)
Shine: Alright, and I have good focusssss… Alright, and, whenever you guys are ready.
Papí: Ok.
[Fade to alternating shots of Papí and Micah talking after the shoot]
Papí: Um, in the last couple of years, um, some really amazing, like, queer, um… independent, um, do-it-yourself porn has come out and I’m really excited about it, it really has shown a different light, um, from, um… from almost like a cookie cutter model to what, uh, there was like uh a girl-on-girl, lesbian, and now there’s this whole other category where it’s queer and it incorporates, like, trans bodies, trans identities, genderqueer, um, all of that, so it—it’s just, I’m really excited to be a part of it and I think that, um, Shine has been, you know, when Crash Pad first came out was like amazing and that just really catapulted a lotta shit that’s been out there now and I’m really happy to be a part of it.
Micah: Mmhmm.
Papí: Mmm.
Micah: I wanted to add to that that it’s, uh, it’s specifically people of color making porn and being in porn and taking charge rather than kinda being put in porn in the mainstream way, and not–not—without those stereotypes that have been in it, like Asian women in porn, or Black men in porn—
Papí: Right, right, and we get to do what we want—
Micah: Yeah.
Papí: —that’s, that’s the shit I love too, it’s like, it’s definitely not, um, you know, do A, B, and C, it’s like, “What’re you guys feelin’, what do you want,” you know, “what’s the concept,” and we really get to steer how we wanna express our desire and all that, so I really appreciate that as well.
Micah: Mmhmm.
Papí: We have a lot of say in… how we wanna show the world how we do this shit.
Micah: Yeah, and I also really like that there’s all different kinds of bodies—
Papí: Yeah, me too.
Micah: —on screen, and body hair, and scars, imperfections whatever mainstream—
Papí: Stretch marks (laughs) I love it all, yes.
Micah: All very sexy.
Papí: Yep. Totally.
Shine: Awesome. Thank you.
