Akira: How did you like the shoot?
Chocolate Chip: (laughs) I liked it a lot. It was, umm, it was really fun, it felt really… natural, um… the, the actual sex part felt natural (laughs)—
Akira: Uhuh…
Chocolate Chip: —the, like, setup is always a little bit tricky.
Akira: A little bit awkward…
Chocolate Chip: (laughs) Um, umm… but yeah I thought it was really fun; it felt good.
Akira: Yeah. I had a lot of fun too, um, it was fun shooting with you again—
Chocolate Chip: (laughs)
Akira: —the first time, um, I shot with Chocolate Chip it was, like, my first scene ever, and I was super nervous so I was like “We have to do this over…”
Chocolate Chip: Awww… (laughs)
Akira: (laughs) So, yeah.
Chocolate Chip: What was challenging about the shoot?
Akira: Um… I don’t know, there wasn’t really anything that challenging—
Chocolate Chip: Mmhmm.
Akira: —today, umm, it was fun, I don’t know.
Chocolate Chip: Awesome, yeah, I think just warming up…
Akira: Yeah, uhuh.
Chocolate Chip: …for me, like I’m always, like… nervous at first, and so, just like—
Akira: Start going?
Chocolate Chip: —getting into a rhythm, yeah, um, but once you’re there, it’s really pretty—
Akira: Yeah…
Chocolate Chip: —pretty smooth.

Chocolate Chip: I like to top, but I like to sub.
Akira: Yeah!
Chocolate Chip: Like, I feel like I like to, umm—
Akira: —to follow orders, and be, umm… not be in charge, pretty much. And I’m, like, kind—it works out, ‘cause I’m the opposite, I like to give orders, but, I like… to have things done to me.

Akira: So yeah, that’s how we started it out, and pretty much through the whole scene we kept that going.
Akira: So, Chocolate Chip, why do you continue to do porn?
Chocolate Chip: I guess, like, a couple reasons, I think, umm, one is that, uh, I’m… like, I’m a really nervous and shy person, and I feel—but also, like a, a sex-positive person, and so, like, I think it’s been, um… important to… to see more, like, I—and I think more about shyness as being, like, a orientation—
Akira: Mmhmm…
Chocolate Chip: —a social orientation (laughs) to the world—
Akira: Yeah…
Chocolate Chip: —and I think that it can be, um, kind of, um, like, a deterrent, like being shy and, like, feeling like you’re gonna be awkward, or feeling like you’re gonna look weird could be, like a, like a deterrent to trying things, or, like, even like, maybe exploring—like, if people are shy and sex—really sexually adventurous, umm—
Akira: Mmhmm
Chocolate Chip: —those two things can feel kind of, like, like, the shyness could restrict the other—
Akira: Yeah, exactly.
Chocolate Chip: —I just kinda want to put, like, to be awkward and be having sex at the same time. (laughs)
Akira: Yeah.
Chocolate Chip: —I, yeah, I’m just like, I don’t know, I really like that dynamic, and, like, putting that image out, out in the world.
Akira: Mmhmm.
Chocolate Chip: (laughs)
Akira: I understand that, I used to be super shy.
Chocolate Chip: (laughs)
Akira: Um, I continue to do porn because I think that it’s important, um, for, well it’s important for me because I never, this is something, like, I would have never done, like six years ago—
Chocolate Chip: Mmhmm.
Akira: —in high school, this is like, if you’d asked me I would’ve been like, “No way,” like, I was such a tomboy, super into sports—
Chocolate Chip: Mmm…
Akira: —and music, and, like, not, umm—still into music, but like, it’s not something I would have done, and I think in queer porn it’s… ok to be, it’s totally ok to be yourself and to show people that you can be super femme and also a tomboy or, like, not… umm… I dunno what I’m saying (laughs) —
Chocolate Chip: (laughs)
Akira: —ugh, I hate these interviews, umm…
Chocolate Chip: (laughs)
Akira: I… I just… mmm, wanna show a different side of me, and show who I am, on film.
Chocolate Chip: Totally.

Chocolate Chip: Umm, I think it’s important (laughs) uhh, because umm… uhh… well I think, like, for me it’s been really, like um… vital to my, to my coming out process—
Akira: Mmhmm.
Chocolate Chip: —and I feel like it could potentially be that for other people, like especially folks like, living in the Bay Area where there’s like a lot of, um, it’s like… it’a a real—it can be a really sex-positive place and like a really queer place but there are a lot of… like, kind of thinking about where I came from and, like—
Akira: Uhuh.
Chocolate Chip: —the small town where I’m from, like, not having any access to—
Akira: Yeah.
Chocolate Chip: —any of these cultures, or like—
Akira: It can still be scary, coming into this, and everyone’s so open, and you’re just like, “Ohh…”
Chocolate Chip: Totally.
Akira: Especially being a shy person.
Chocolate Chip: Yeah! (laughs) Yeah, for sure, but I think, like, also, like, umm… I think, it’s been, the images that are produced, um, uh, are like, um… yeah just basically I feel like can give people who don’t have direct access to some of these communities, like, a chance to see, like, what—
Akira: Yeah, it’s, it’s…
Chocolate Chip: —what kind of options there are for, like, who to be, and—
Akira: …there’s more, more out there—
Chocolate Chip: —yeah.
