(Intro music)
Dee: So how did you enjoy the shoot today, Chelsea?
Chelsea: I have a lot of fun. Usually my preparation was shoots are a month in advance, being like I need to start anal training for a week, I need to prepare all this stuff
Dee: Right
Chelsea: And today was kind of last minute. So I just kind of took a shower and came here to shoot, and it was super, super fun. And I was going to meet you later today anyway, so it’s even better! (Laughs)
Dee: It was written in the stars
Chelsea: Yeah!
Chelsea: How did you enjoy the shoot today?
Dee: It was great. Uh, yeah. I had a similar day as you. I was like, Okay I have, you know, nothing till this afternoon. I had a nice slow morning getting up, just getting changed to go shopping or something and was like, Oh! I guess I can wear this to go do porn! It was a lot of fun and our negotiation was nice and easy and we did a lot of hot stuff.
Chelsea: Yeah! I feel like the vibe of this was so fun today because it’s just like… a quintessential Bay Area porn day, where it’s just like, Oh? Someone dropped out? Just, you’re in the neighborhood, come on
Dee: It’s fine, I’ll come bring my harness,
Chelsea: Yeah.
Dee: You know, I just had it laying around.
(laughs)
Dee: Yeah it was definitely serendipitous.
Chelsea: So fun.
Dee: So, Chelsea.
Chelsea: Yes?
Dee: What was challenging about the shoot today, if anything?
Chelsea: I don’t think there was that much challenging. We just kind of naturally had a flow with us.
Dee: Yeah!
Chelsea: And our scene and it just very naturally happened, which is always so great when that happens in porn, because sometimes there are difficulties and you have to stop and start a bunch, but today just felt like, Oh I met this really cute person and we hooked up on camera, it’s great!
Dee: Yeah, Honestly, today felt like I also don’t feel like there was anything challenging
This feels like what, I don’t know, like what the average person who’s never done porn before THINKS porn is like, Oh, you just come to a beautiful room and get to fuck this hot person, And then you just go on with your day. And, well, that’s what happened to me today. Yeah.
(Laughs)
Chelsea: I definitely feel the same, wow this was such a silky smooth shoot,. that there’s no issues really at all. Neither the crew or us, it was just so easy.
Dee: Good time. Good time.
Chelsea: What are some safer sex practices you use, either in porn or in real life?
Dee: I generally get tested every couple weeks to a month. So usually the first thing is “Here are recent tests.” If for some reason there are things to guard against and things, I find black gloves super sexy. So black nitrile gloves.
Chelsea: So good!
Dee: Cut it open and use it as a dental dam kind of situation. Sometimes two, which is hot. Condoms. And if no things need to go in any holes then lots and lots of hand stuff, cause I love hands stuff.
Chelsea: For sure! Also dry humping is so much fun. It’s so underrated.
Dee: Making out and dry humping is just like… sometimes I forget I can do that on camera. That’s just what my regular sex looks like. I just lazily make out and hump my boyfriend. But I guess I can do it on camera!
Chelsea: I feel like… especially with trans people as a whole…I feel like dry humping is so underrated.
Dee: (Sighing) Honestly. And since I started T? Whole new level!
(Laughs)
Chelsea: I remember being 19 or 20 with my girlfriend, who was also trans, and we’d just dry hump for a long time –
Dee: For hours!
Chelsea: – it was so hot!
Dee: Just like, that’s the main event!
Chelsea: And it was great! Yeah. I also really like black gloves. Like ever since I first saw them. The first time I saw them was — Do you remember Kat Von D, the tattoo artist? And she used them? And I was always like, I was young, I was like, Damn, these girls are hot!
Dee: She had that show and everything.
Chelsea: Yeah! I’m like, Damn, these gloves are hot! I don’t know why, I don’t know what this means, but I’m into it.
Dee: But that’s important!
Chelsea: Yeah! And then it turned out to be very important. But yeah, same. I use condoms and all my toys, just because it makes cleaning up so much easier.
Dee: So much easier.
Chelsea: Also if you’re giving oral, with, like, a dick. Like, if you don’t want hair in your mouth or whatever, the condom kind of reduces that. I think it’s kind of the same and just getting tested regularly. Also right now, it’s such a different testing schedule for me because I’ll have one shoot and then we’ll be like not shooting for three months.
Dee: Right.
Chelsea: It was like, okay I have a test for this.
Dee: And then lining up my COVID tests, with my STI panels and things was silly and having enough rapid tests… anyway.
Chelsea: That’s being a porn performer in the age of COVID.
Dee: Yeah. We got it.
Dee: So Chelsea, why do you continue to do porn?
Chelsea: I think it’s the most fun performance art. And also feel like… I’m going to get deep for a second, but out of all mediums, it affects everyone. There’s no way to see a porn scene of whatever you’re into without having some attraction to it. I think as a whole, I think it’s a really important medium to be in to continue to be making stuff like that. Not only for visibility and stuff, but I also feel like it’s such an innate part of our humanity that’s pushed down and not thought of as serious. So, I really feel like porn’s this deep thing. How about you, what keeps you making porn?
Dee: Um, I feel very similar to you. I was raised in a very sex-negative way and in a very guilt-inducing, shame-inducing kind of matter and was always drawn to it in general. Even in that environment, I was always like the loud virgin who was talking about sex way too much.
Chelsea: (Laughs) You were that person!
Dee: Yeah, I found every gay kid in my tiny Christian high school. I was always that person. But I didn’t know I was gay!
Chelsea: The Christian school to porn pipeline.
Dee: Honestly! Honestly!
So, yeah. Basically, what draws me to porn is the kind of liberation that I wish for young me. I’m like, look! You don’t have to be upset that you have these feelings and these things. You can just have those loudly and other people will pay you for it and like to see it and want to share with the world. It feels very, very liberating, especially as I get comfier in my place and my gender and things. I want to see that hot guy on camera, that’s neat.
Chelsea: Yeah, you’re still young. You’re on the come-up still in this industry.
Dee: Yeah, it’s fun. It’s neat.
Chelsea: After this whole pandemic you’re gonna… (Dee sighs)
Chelsea: All the porn, all the time.
Dee: Yeah, that’s the dream!
Chelsea: So obviously this last two years and most of your porn career has been during the pandemic. But what are some positives from quarantine?
Dee: Well… you know It’s funny because, like you said, I started doing porn in 2019. So most of my porn career has been in this, so I don’t have much frame of reference for what it’s like to be doing porn NOT in this. However, I do think the person I was before, this was a lot busier. And it was a lot harder for me to split my time between all the things I wanted to do. And most things I wanted to do were not smart and safe to do right now. So I feel like it has been easier for me to focus my time and my energy on the things that matter more to me. So I think if not for the quarantine and the pandemic, I don’t know that I would have been as focused and gung-ho about all the stuff I would have had to move things around. But I’m like, Oh, porn today? I got that time! Like now! So… I appreciate that it has freed me up more for my passions and really helped me focus on what I have the bandwidth to actually do.
What about you? What’s been your favorite part of quarantine?
Chelsea: I think it made me deal with mental health stuff that I was too busy working on to address. I was too busy, like, oh I have a film to do, I have to go to this country for this festival, I have to do this, this and this…. So I think it makes you kind of have perspective. It forced me to have a work-life balance which I never had before. Even the word “work-life balance” … I can’t do that! I’m too busy, I’m trying to sustain this career.
Dee: That’s so relatable.
Chelsea: So I think just being like, Okay. Being set in one place for two years essentially. Okay. What do you actually do? What do you want to get out of all this? What are things you need to work on? So I think that’s probably the best thing and I don’t think anything else would have stopped me otherwise. I feel like I would still be trying to solve all my issues. If I just work more, it will all work out!
Right? You know, it’s fine! Yeah…
Dee: No, that’s all very relatable.
Chelsea: No, it’s… yeah, it doesn’t! You should talk to a therapist AND do your porn. Both.
Dee: Novel concept!
Chelsea: Yeah! It’s both!
(Laughs)
(Ava LaPrima, off-camera) Thank you. Anything else you’d like to add or talk about?
Dee: No, I think that’s it.
Chelsea: Just love coming here. You directing is always so much fun. Like the old times.
(Ava) Alright, go ahead and cut!
