(Intro music)
Valerie: How did you enjoy the shoot today, Sweetie?
Neveah: I really enjoyed the shoot today.
Valerie: Me too. I was with my favorite person in the world
Neveah: Aw, shucks!
Valerie:Of course I had a great experience.
Valerie: Same, honey
Neveah: How did you enjoy the shoot?
Valerie: Yeah – honestly, I think it was one of my best.
Neveah: Awesome!
Valerie: I mean, I’ve done some epic shoots.
Neveah: Mmhm. Yeah you have.
Valerie: Was there anything that was challenging for you about it?
Neveah: Uh, no.
Valerie: No?
Neveah: It was very smooth, very easy. Everybody was awesome. Anything challenging for you?
Valerie: Probably the most challenging thing is not having… This was the first scene I’ve done anywhere in like a year-and-a-half and you know, it’s that whole, just “getting older and do I still have it?” kind of thing and coming back into a scene that has so many new people coming up. But that’s kind of exciting. Coming back for another hoorah and letting other people go
Neveah: Yeah.
Neveah: What are your safer sex practices and why?
Valerie: I mean, I always get tested. I clean – I’m always about cleaning everything after it’s done, even if it didn’t get used, I’m like, you know what? Fluids and all that still get around. I’m going to clean it all.
Neveah: Oh yeah
Valerie: Make sure to clean everything, using the common sense. You know.
Neveah: Awesome.
Valerie: Back when I was, sleeping with more people, always doing condom use and getting tested all the time.
Neveah: Oh yeah.
Valerie: How about you sweetie?
Neveah: Well, obviously staying clean is numero uno for me. I can never be too clean. Always clean all the toys obviously. Yeah, even if they’re not being used. That’s a good one. If you have multiple partners obviously use condoms. Get tested
Every week.
Valerie: Every week.
Neveah: If you’ve done porn before, why do you continue to do it?
Valerie: I mean, you know, I… I used to do it… a lot of the reason why I’ve been away for awhile, for like a year and a half, is re-evaluating what my priorities in the industry are. When I got into it, it wasn’t for the right reasons. It wasn’t for… It wasn’t under the best circumstances. You know. That’s why I created Black Swan Productions to be a safe place for people to perform. To do it was safely and that’s, that’s why I continue. To be that alternative person that a lot of people said would never do anything in the industry. Lot of people told me, I was too ugly and not femme enough. And me being here today, with my wife. And as happy as I am, I prove them wrong.
Neveah: Hell yeah.
Valerie: And I hope that rubs off on other people, you know, other people who’ve been told, they can’t do it because you can.
Neveah: Hell yeah.
Valerie: How about you?
Neveah: Why I came back to do it today cuz I have done porn before. It wasn’t the best experience. And this time it was on my terms. And again, it was with my favorite person, cuz I wanted to take my power back and say, no, I can do this for me. It doesn’t have to be about anyone else.
Valerie: That’s right.
Neveah: And this time, it was about us.
Valerie: It was! Definitely about us.
Valerie: What’s been your favorite part of quarantine?
Neveah: My favorite part of quarantine is the self-reflection. Really reevaluating my own morals and values and seeing how I can make the world better through what I can do. And not have others have me do, you know? And what about you, honey?
Valerie: Pretty much the same thing. Quarantine has been all about reflection and transformation for me. What I held dear before then versus now? Night and day. And sometimes you have to have that real revolution inside yourself before you go trying to do anything else. And what that means is a complete decimation of your priorities. Re-evaluating, like okay, this isn’t – the way I’m going about things isn’t working. It’s time to think about what will work and focusing rather than running around trying to be accepted and trying to be validated by everybody. People – people have my back. Finding myself, finding that confidence.
Neveah: Yes.
And is that all?
(Laughs)
