Devorah: I enjoyed it a lot, it was super fun. I had a blast. Um, yeah. It was everything that I thought it would be and more.

Zuri: What was challenging?

Devorah: For… today’s shoot? Um… What was challenging? I’d say, probably just waking up early.(Laughs) That’s the only thing…! But I mean everything was like pretty easy and nice and sweet. Yeah, I don’t really think that there was too much that was hard. It’s nice being back here. And um, maybe misplacing my things.

Devorah: How about you?

Zuri: Um. Honestly. It was the waking up part.

Devorah: The waking up part?

Zuri: On a Monday (Laughs) Everything else was very easy, happy, safe great flow.

Devorah: What are your safer sex practices and why?

Zuri: My safer sex practices are
Condoms, um, `cause well, I’m at high risk of getting you know, pregnant. We all are, if you have a vagina. Condoms

Yeah, barriers. Um…

I also occasionally use dental dams if I can find them. For whatever reason, it’s been harder to find them as of late.

Always getting tested, regularly.
– Mmhm, yeah.

Cause, you know, we’re doing porn.
– Definitely. Yeah.

But also we are sex workers also outside of this as well.

Yes. Definitely

That too. And…Telling people my status.
Talking about it.

Yeah, talking about it.
Being open. Clear. Transparent. Because it’s normal. Safe sex practices are what makes things easier and safer. So. Exactly.
– Yeah. Definitely. Same.

Devorah: Same for me. Condoms. Definitely part of my practice – Safer sex practice is gloves I mean, mostly just figuring out, discussion wise.

It varies per person.
– That’s true.

And what I’m doing, about having a discussion.
If there’s a lot of trust then you know.
– Talking about it.

Devorah: I get tested every month
– Same here.

Devorah: And yeah, taking care of our health as sex workers. And people who shoot [porn].
What else. Sometimes birth control.

Yeah.

Um, yeah, when needed. And I think um, Yeah, just like navigating risks safely.

Yeah, just like having conversations.

Yeah, conversations are important.

Cause otherwise…What else is gonna happen?

They’re important to have.

If we’re not exchanging fluids and doing other things

Cause there’s so many types of sex that you can have that reduces transmissions.

Zuri: If you’ve done porn before, why do you continue to do it?

Devorah: Um…I really feel like it’s important and also just like fun to show people what queer sex looks like. And also for me as a trans person, having trans representation in porn is important. Having people see real queer people fucking and loving each other is really important. I think that is just there needs to be more of it.

I think that for me, I just like things to be really organic. All of the porn that I’ve ever done has been queer porn, mostly small productions, like indie productions or content trades with my friends and other performers which feels really great. It’s nice to create our own stuff.

I like directing my own things as well. I’ve directed like a few short teasers and things like that. So I have some projects planned, so I’m really inspired by people like ya’ll who have been doing this thing for a while, and I want to continue doing it because I love seeing us on film. I love seeing queer people bang on film. How about you?

Zuri: Yeah, I feel, um

Devorah: Why do you do it?

Zuri: I do it because I want to represent the non-binary plus-sized Black femmes in porn that don’t get noticed. Because… for the most part… If you don’t look like the cookie-cutter… You know. Version of someone who would look like me…doesn’t really get a lot of…

So I’m here to continue to uplift especially the trans non-binary people of color community because we deserve that. We’re badass and it’s also just really good to show how queer porn is beautiful. Wanted. Just, amazing. I can’t even like

Devorah: What has been the best thing about quarantine?

Zuri: Not having to see other people’s faces. (Laughs) Out in public a good majority of the time because they’re all inside. And, um…. I’m already a “keep six feet away from me” in my regular life, so that makes it even better

What’s your favorite –

– Anti-Social Club!

I’m an introvert so not a ton has shifted for me other than traveling a lot less But I would say one of my favorite things besides, yes, being able to be a little bit more anti-social covered up in public being incognito, not recognized by the general public, cis people, things like that, the grocery store… is spending quality time with friends. What’s been really great is having more time to focus on the relationships that are important to me. Yeah, like intentional quality time with people and just realizing what I really want.

Yeah, just… getting my shit together a little bit more.

Exactly. Life is short.

Try to make the best of it

Focusing on relationships especially right now since we’re all going through it since we’re in the middle of a super plague and spending the pandemic with this one, too
