S: I’ve been talking too much, you need to talk
EX: First crashpad Sophie. How’d you enjoy yourself today?
S: (Laughter)
EX: (Laughter)
S: It was.. it was lots of fun. I enjoyed myself.. um.. yeah. Glad that we did a switch
scene cuz we got to be real fun and messy and intense with each other in a short
period of time – that was a lot of fun.
EX: I know I don’t think that I’ve ever been in a timed environment before aside
from like fun games or whatever.
S: Yeah
EX: (Laughs)
S: I’ve been in a few timed environments. (Laughs) This one was the most fun.
EX: Uh well um I had a great time uh.. that was my first time bottoming on camera
um.. this is my fourth crashpad shoot and I counted I’ve been coming for eight
and a half years to the crash pad

EX: Um.. and so.. um, it was cool to like do something new. And yeah, I really like
having sex with you so, pretty cool, just had some extra people in the room
with you
S: Yeah. It was also particularly fun cuz we’ve been on a road trip and so we’ve
been staying with friends or in the back of my truck for two months and so it was
nice to have lots of space

EX: So what did you find challenging? What do you.. what was.. yeah – was it
everything you expected? Was there anything that was hard in a way you didn’t
expect?
S: Um.. yeah I don’t think anything was particularly challenging – it was.. uh yeah it’s
funny to just have an empty expanse of time within which to have sex on camera,
and no direction – that part’s a little bit challenging. Um, but.. having sex with
you is usually pretty easy so it was good (Laughs)
EX: (Laughs)
S: And you? What was hard for you?
EX: Um.. I think.. um.. I think actually I really enjoy giving warm ups. And getting
warm ups.. and so I think that the one thing about the timed space is like
metering how hard to go..
S: Mmm hmm
EX: ..without a warm up – or I feel like I’ve never just like fuck you in the ass really
like without like doing some warm up or like..
S: Yeah
EX: just haul out with you, with a cane on you and so it was like interesting you
were like “ok this is chill”

EX: Oh lord. Um.. um.. I do for safety sex practices I um go across the spectrum
with, like, everything, uh, like full barriers with some folks and then some folks
I’ll like, you know, talk with people about where they feel like their body’s at
and like what people want and then we’ll go to.. you know, like.. uncovered
blowjobs or whatever.. and then, I feel like with penetrative sex like I’ve
negotiated not using condoms with you sometimes but we kind of get tested a
lot, stay in communication about stuff, and so like.. that feels chill.. um.. But
yeah so I guess just like across the board.. uh.. sussing out each situation and
being in communication with everyone and deciding for myself what I want
S: Yeah.. yeah pretty much the same I know we’ve been, we’ve been kind of talking a
lot about barriers and how barriers sometimes get used in queer community as
like a weird form of slut shaming or whatever – people use barriers for emotional
reasons, which is fine, also, both of those things, but.. trying to like.. feel like
we’ve been doing a lot of talking about like.. actual transmission risks and trying
to like think about what’s important to us rather than just have like standard
across-the-board barrier practices or whatever
EX: Yeah it was really interesting actually when I was like coming into my sexuality
like there was a lot of people who were still like kind of the community that was
like still traumatized from the um.. AIDS epidemic really having um.. a large
effect in like losing a lot of community members.. and so there was this, this
overall conversation of, like, toxic.. body fluids as toxicity across the board and
no real discussions about, yeah, actual transmission risks, or like, actual biology
and so it’s kind of an emotional plateau across the board of like what was
acceptable and then, yeah, people would create a lot of culture of like shame
and there wasn’t a lot of communication, it was just a lot of expectation and so
it’s like really nice to be at this place where.. to be like talking about stuff, um..
and not just using things, emotionally and eschewing all science. Transmission
risks are who gets to use barriers in what context and like.. Yeah..
EX: Yeah
S: All these things. And using them emotionally but being honest about the fact that
it’s emotional instead of (Laughs) about transmission risks. Yeah.
EX: Some set up..
S&EX: (Laughter)

S: Uh why do you continue doing porn, Ex?
EX: Uh, well, um.. pay the bills.. uh, no, I’m, I’m a pornographer all the time um, so.. uh crashpad’s been one of the only places that I, uh, go in front of the camera, and so, uh, I’ve been in porn for like 9 years now I think? Um and I’m in it cuz it’s a business that people really seem to experience a lot of job satisfaction in
S: (Laughs)
EX: There’s a lot of women getting to run the show and make decisions about their bodies and about um.. creative processes in business and everything and it’s just um.. a better, really good environment to be in, in that regard, and.. yeah. And in terms of like being here and actually being in porn as a director um.. I feel like it’s really important to, um.. sometimes share the vulnerability of being in front of the camera.. so that I have a lot more empathy and understand more what people that I’m shooting for other sites are going through maybe a little bit.. or like what.. yeah just being hot and moving for 20 mintues and you know just like um, you know or feeling vulnerable about your image or, um.. you know having stuff go online and not have control over how people, um.. consume it.. like that’s really good for me to experience every couple of years, I try to make sure to do it. And having sex with you on camera was a really cool opportunity (Laughs)
S: (Laughs)
EX: So.. there you go. How ‘bout you?
S: Uhm.. Yeah I mean I guess it’s a bit complicated cuz I’ve done a bit of porn but a very long time ago so it feels in some ways like a first (Laughs) um.. and it’s definitely a different setting.. um.. I feel like for me it’s just sort of a.. I don’t know.. yeah, it feels like a natural extension of other kinds of work, and just.. that and coming here in particular seemed like, you know, a particularly nice time, and I loved having sex with you on camera – or, I like having sex with you, and having sex with you on camera was like very fun. Like, I’m a bit of an exhibitionist, so it was like an element of fun to it, um.. and.. yeah.
