April Flores: Do you like it? Do you like what you see?

April: Hi, Shine!
Shine 1: Hi. How did you enjoy the shoot today?
April: I really loved it. It was nice and hot in the room. I enjoyed the Magic Wand and the Pure Wand, and my fingers. I liked it! It was great. I came like five times, I lost count. But it was good. I loved it.
Shine 1: That’s awesome.
Shine 2: I like it, too. I liked it.

Shine 1: I really enjoyed the shoot, because as you know, it’s our five-year anniversary.
April: Happy anniversary!
Shine 1: Thank you! So I was really excited to have you on the set. I’m like, “April Flores is coming to the set to shoot!” and I was really excited about it. I really enjoyed having to be creative on the spot. I always like thinking on my feet and having to figure stuff out, so it was very cool to be creative and do something silly.
Shine 2: I like being creative, too.
Shine 1: What challenges did you have?
April: Happy anniversary. And thank you for having me; I’ve wanted to shoot with you for a long time, so it’s a great magical day for me. The only challenging thing for me is that I’m on my period, and performers have periods, but we can’t show that sometimes. So, using the tampon and trying to make sure the string was not visible, and actually not really being able to insert anything. However, the tampon was kind of stimulating me; it was inside of me. I don’t wear tampons, so I’m not used to that feeling. So it was a good challenge. What about for you?
Shine 1: I think because I shoot couples mostly, I think shooting a solo is a little bit challenging, because you’re like, “Well, how do I make it interesting.” It’s not the same dynamic as two people. So it’s a challenge to think of a concept that would make the solo dynamic. And then, the challenge of working around you being on your period. So we worked up this funny thing of being more interactive with my voyeur self. And what I think is really funny is that this shoot is the closest thing to me doing a shoot for Crash Pad because I was actually interacting.
April: Oh, hey! (nodding)
Shine 1: Do you know what I mean? Because usually when I shoot, we really do blend into the background. And a lot of people who shoot with us, they’re like, “Oh, I forgot you were there, I didn’t even know you were there.” So it was different to have, in a filming way, breaking the fourth wall, but also in a shooting way, breaking the fourth wall, so that was kind of weird and challenging.
April: It was great. I liked it. I was talking and you were saying yes…so that was good. Good to have that feedback, because sometimes you don’t have any feedback, you’re like “What do I do next?”

Shine 1: Why do you do porn? Why do you continue to do porn?
April: I love showing off for the viewer. It turns me on to feel like someone’s watching it. That’s a turn on for me. I like to express myself sexually this way. For me it’s an expression. I want to continue performing because I want to continue with my mission statement that fat girls are sexy and desirable, and we can be sexual and express ourselves in the bodies that we inhabit, not wait until we lose five, ten, 100 pounds. Do it now. So I want to represent that in the adult industry. Why do you do porn? Why do you shoot porn?
Shine 1: There’s a lot of reasons why I do porn. There’s a lot of political reasons, like creating a forum for queer bodies and queer sex. And after doing this for five years, this is what I do. I feel like the way my brain works, I’m like, this is what I do. I can feel comfortable doing it. I’m finally at a place where I can be of service in some way that uses my abilities and talents. And also, I am a voyeur, so it’s a funny way to engage with people in this really intimate way, but for me it’s a way to do it so I’m not involved but I’m involved. So I get to witness all of these really awesome experiences vicariously, so it feeds that part of my sexuality even though I’m really not a part of it.
April: But you’re a part of it. You’re the voyeur. For me as an exhibitionist, what is it without the voyeur? The other way around. It satisfies that part of me, too.
Shine 1: Awesome. Do you have anything you want to add? Anything you want to say to us on video?
April: Just that I had a great time. And for all the fans out there, support people who make porn, people who perform in porn. Buy the movies, download the movies because we love it, and if you love it, too, support the people that you love in order to have us pay our bills, but also to put out more movies for you to enjoy. That’s what I want to say.
