VOC: Okay, ready

VOC: Awesome.
J-Bird: So what did you like about today’s shoot?
AfroDisiac: Um, I liked, what I really liked is that we met beforehand and hung out, and hung out, um, and chatted a bit before, that was real-, you know, it just kind of like, made it a little easier, more relaxing.
J-Bird: Right.
AfroDisiac: Um, and what else. It was fun.
(Laughter)
AfroDisiac: It was a lot of fun, this was only my second shoot, so.
J-Bird: Mm-hm.
AfroDisiac: It was fun. I had a good time.
J-Bird: Cool.
AfroDisiac: Yeah
(Laughter)
AfroDisiac: You were easy, but not, like, easy-
J-Bird: Oh, hey let’s not start rumors-
AfroDisiac: Not like, not like, easy like that, but, you know, it w-, easy going.
J-Bird: Oh, cool.
AfroDisiac: Yeah, so it was like, I was really nervous, but-
J-Bird: Not after (unintelligible) –
AfroDisiac: No, no, so yeah, it was fun.
J-Bird: Cool
AfroDisiac: What did you like about today’s shoot?
J-Bird: Uh, what I liked about today’s shoot was I kind of got to show my geeky side in talking about doing a parody with Titanic and like, um, doing a scene where I felt like, um, like I felt like the last couple of scenes I’ve done, um, I wasn’t super confident with what was gonna happen, but I felt like I kinda knew what was gonna happen so that was really cool, and I liked that I was challenged by like you said, meeting someone for the first time before the shoot, and that’s never been the case for me, so it’s um, it’s really exciting to know, like, that I can shoot with other who I’ve never met before.
AfroDisiac: Yeah.
J-Bird: You know. Yeah.
[Cut to scene]
J-Bird in bed: Maybe when you’re doing the eye move, just start like stripping.
VOC: Okay.
J-Bird: ‘Cause I was like, ch- kinda trying to hit on you just start stripping (unintelligible, laughing)
AfroDisiac: Okay (Unintelligible) your eyes-
J-Bird: (Laughs)-

J-Bird: Do you want to pause after, if we start like, getting toys and stuff like that?
VOC: Nope.
J-Bird: Just keep going?
VOC: Yeah, we’ll just keep running and then that’ll be –
J-Bird: Tristan will be like (Laughs)
VOC: That’s Tristan’s problem, yeah.

AfroDisiac: What was challenging about the shoot?
J-Bird: (Laughs) Um, I would have to say, yet again, kind of like positioning things while um, the cameras were rolling.
AfroDisiac: Mm-hmm.
J-Bird: ‘Cause I didn’t want to like have everyone stop and be like, J-Bird, you move too much, or you know, so it was like being really conscious of that um, but that was kind of hard. Um, and, I don’t know, I felt like, a-, chemistry-wise it was cool, so, nothing seemed more challenging than that. What about you?
AfroDisiac: Um… I would just probably say like, uh, getting here.
(Laughter)
AfroDisiac: Really. That’s pretty much it, everything else was (Laughing) everything else was fine. Um, yeah, yeah, I didn’t really find anything like really challenging, like I said, you know-
J-Bird: Mm-hm-
AfroDisiac: It was really, um, you know, easy in that way, I didn’t-
J-Bird: Yeah.
AfroDisiac: Uh, I was still nervous, but, you know, I feel like, you know, we had good chemistry, and you know-
J-Bird: Mm-hm-
AfroDisiac: It was fine, so I, I didn’t really s-, that was the only challenge really was getting here.
J-Bird: Yeah.
AfroDisiac: I would say, out of everything, out of the whole thing, yeah, yeah.
J-Bird: Um I actually have one more thing to add for challenges, um, I usually don’t wear a binder when I shoot, so this was the first time, like breathing-wise it was more interesting, like, I consciously felt hotter and like, you know things like that, so that was um, it was really cool, though, so I can play that out again and then another shoot maybe I’ll wear it and maybe I won’t, but, it was pretty cool.
AfroDisiac: Cool.

J-Bird: Okay, stop really quick.
AfroDisiac: Okay.
J-Bird: Um, so, w-we haven’t talked about this really quick, I want to keep my binder on.
AfroDisiac: Yes.
J-Bird: And then, anything down there, gloves.

AfroDisiac: Mmm. (whispering) You’re so cute.

J-Bird: So, why do you continue to do porn?
AfroDisiac: Really because I wanted to see like, people who look like me, like, in porn. I mostly watch, um, I don’t really watch a lot of queer porn, I watch mostly like gay, male porn.
J-Bird: Mm-hm.
AfroDisiac: I really like it, um, and I don’t know, I wanted to, I wanted to also create those images.
J-Bird: Mm-hm.
AfroDisiac: Um, as well as um, being in a position of you know, being visible in that way.
J-Bird: Mm-hm.
AfroDisiac: Uh, just wanting to see more brown people in porn, so, yeah, I don’t know. I feel like if it, i-, I would prob-, I might be more interested in, if, you know, if there were more, I don’t know, and too, maybe I think it’s like the way that I like to fuck, too, like always, isn’t it, so showing that as well.
J-Bird: Mm-hm.
AfroDisiac: Um, or that not being shown enough and me wanting to, you know, don’t talk about it, be about it.
J-Bird: Mm-hm.
AfroDisiac: You know, so, um, yeah.
J-Bird: Cool.
AfroDisiac: And, what was the question again?
J-Bird: (Laughs)
VOC: The, the, why do you continue to-
AfroDisiac: Why do you continue to do porn?
J-Bird: Um, I find that a lot of um, like, mainstream porn has a lot of fetish kind of sites for transguys and also Asians.
AfroDisiac: Mm-hm.
J-Bird: And I’m kind of both, so it’s a really interesting, um, to put myself out there. I’ve also realized that I grew up with a lot of shame in terms of sex, so I, it’s a part of my therapeutic process, you, like really understand like, this is a part of who I am, the sexual being of me, that I’m like really, um, proud and I don’t want to hide that. And I think, um, the more I do it, I’ll be more comfortable with that and there’s also this, um, I feel like, there’s not too much representation of like genderqueer and transfolks who um, are non-testosterone or don’t have, you know, surgery and things like that, and I think, um, working for productions that show like a wider range of different bodies and different, um, stages of where people are in their c-, you know, who they are, um, it’s really important for me to like be a representative of that, and uh, not hide the fact that there are people like me out there, too, so.
AfroDisiac: Cool.

J-Bird: Half the way, I was like, how long have we been doing this?
VOC: Forty minutes.
J-Bird: Really?
VOC: Mm-hm.
J-Bird: Cool that’s enough time to edit.

AfroDisiac: I’m glad that I shot finally, and um, yeah, it was fun.
J-Bird: (Laughs)
AfroDisiac: It’s always weird, it’s always like, it’s weird, it’s weird, like shooting porn’s weird, you know? As much as you like, as much as you’re like, oh, I’m fine, and it’s a job and all of that, it’s work, it’s still kind of like, it’s still a little awkward. You know, a little b-, just a little bit.
J-Bird: Yeah-
AfroDisiac: You know, in that way of, not about shame or anything like that, but just like (falsetto) ohhh, you know, or I don’t’ know just kind, embarrassing, but not bad embarrassing, like, shy, like, awkward kind of.
J-Bird: Mm-hm.
AfroDisiac: But um, so-
J-Bird: (Laughs)
AfroDisiac: And maybe it’s just me, it’s just me, and it’s fine, um, I will own it and claim it. Um, yeah, so I don’t know how many more films I will be in, um, but uh, because I, I just this was on my bucket list.
J-Bird: Yeah?
AfroDisiac: Yeah, was to shoot for CrashPad, and then, um, yeah, so once I did it, then, that was it- (Laughter)
AfroDisiac: You know, so, I don’t know, I don’t know how much more ‘cause I really like being behind the camera, um, as far d-, adult.
J-Bird: Mm-hm.
AFRODISIAC: Um, because I’m trying to create a mainstream, like, something different, so it’s-
J-Bird: Okay.
AfroDisiac: I’m trying to be really, I’m really particular, picky about the projects that I do, so um, yeah.
J-Bird: Cool. Well, I want to get past the awkwardness and so like, I would love to continue doing projects and whether it’s like, mainstream, it’s hard because yeah, the pay is more, but I also don’t feel like it’s a clear representation of who I am, and that’s hard to put out there.
AfroDisiac: Mm-hm.
J-Bird: Um, but the more I do queer porn, I feel like hopefully I’ll be more comfortable and not awkward, ‘cause it, yeah, it is awkward, like really awkward.
AfroDisiac: (Laughs)
J-Bird: But, um, like when pros like, you know, Dylan Ryan and Jiz Lee, they’re just like, oh this is nothing, like, um, I would love to get to that point, so, yeah. But it was fun shooting with you.
AfroDisiac: Yeah, it was fun.
J-Bird: Yeah.
