INTRO MUSIC
Dick: How did you enjoy the shoot today?
Vic: I loved it. It was great. So fun. It’s been really fun getting to know you and just, I don’t know, being silly about some coffee stuff. It’s just nice. How did you?
Dick: I had a great time. Yeah. I love.I love being silly with porn. So it’s really my favorite thing.
Vic: Yeah. Me too. I could’ve used a little more towel whipping. That’s all I can say.
Dick: Okay. Duly noted,
Vic: Just in general in my life. That was great. I love. I loved that. And those are little meanies. They got that rough texture.
Dick: Oh, I got those because I thought they would, you know.
Both: Yeah.
Vic: Reminded me of high school gym stuff. WHIPPING NOISE
Dick: So what was most challenging about the shoot today?
Vic: Um, I mean, it felt very smooth, but if I had to find something challenging, I would say parking.
Dick: Yeah
LAUGHS
Dick: Fair, yeah.
Vic: That’s really the most challenging part of the shoot today, because everyone here is sweet and you’re awesome. So. And that was really fun. And I came twice or more… I feel a little extra down there. So I’m like yeah ..how about you?
Dick: I mean, it’s always kind of a challenge for me to be like, in the moment when I’m shooting. And honestly, it was not that big of a deal. I’m always, like, nervous before, so I’m like, okay, I got to, like, enjoy. I have to remember to enjoy this, right? You know? And I and I did. So it was actually fine. Yeah.
Vic: What are your safer sex practices?
Dick: Okay, well, I… a bunch of stuff. So I get tested about once a month on average, I’m on PrEP. [pre-exposure prophylaxis] I try to get all the vaccines and everything, you know, obviously recently monkey pox and all good with that, you know COVID and all that kind of stuff. Obviously like communication with partners and you know, the whole, the whole slew.
Vic: Totally. For myself, yeah, I’m staying vaccinated and up with the recent vaccinations that keep coming out for various things. Um, often I’ll use condoms or just like play other ways and communication with the folks that I am involved with and fucking. Um, and I’m not on PrEP right now, but I’m really excited that there is the PrEP injectable that’s about to come out.
Dick: Oh, yeah, Yeah. It’s like once a month, right?
Vic: I think it’s, it’s like you get it. I don’t know. Don’t take my word for it. Yeah, I’ve heard different things. But I’m really excited for that because that’ll be, it’ll be really awesome. It’s funny because I’ll see the PrEP commercials on my Hulu and it be like, “we don’t know how it works for people that are assigned female at birth.” And I’m like… meh… okay, okay. But you know, like still it’s I’m excited for this new phase of PrEP, it’s gonna be awesome. But yeah, for the time being I just kind of practice communication, seeing about my stuff and using condoms and things like that.
Dick: Yep.
Vic: So have you done porn before?
Dick: Yes.
Vic: And why – why do you keep coming back for more?
Dick: I have always wanted to do porn. I only started doing it like a few years ago and it’s just something I always, always have been, you know, since I was a teenager really into and I kind of realized like, wow, like, I just I want to do it. It’s really fun. Like, you know, with our little scene here, I love a role play moment. I love getting to kind of perform a little bit and especially when it’s really silly and kind of lighthearted, you know, still really, really sexy and connected and all that. Yeah. So that’s why I keep doing it. Yeah.
Vic: I haven’t done porn in a really long time, but I did a fair bit of – back in the Tumblr days, back in the aughts – just little clips and stuff on my Tumblr. And then we were, we’d make some porn for the Hump Fest which you know… not a fan of Dan Savage… actually got into it with him I’m not going into that. But that really inspired me because I was with some friends that were also excited about doing porn, also excited about doing funny and interesting porns. And so that the next couple of years we would just make different things. Not even for any specific reason or prompt just because, like Two Queers One Peach was one that me and my friend made. These things didn’t go anywhere but it was fun to have them up back in the day of being able to kind of be in charge of my Tumblr and put my clips up and things like that. But I haven’t done it in a while. And so I was really, really excited to apply for CrashPad and enjoy just kind of this whole process of getting back into it and makes me really want to do more.
Dick: Yeah. And what was your favorite thing about quarantine?
Vic: Oh, actually, okay. Like my mind doesn’t actually go to the negative things actually goes to the good things. One of the things is it made me connect with friends that live far away a lot easier. It made this accessibility piece that disabled folks have been begging for and asking for and just it’s not really that hard to do has like come through or like we’ll have Zoom meetings or we’ll have Zoom Hangouts or we’ll be able to do things. And obviously we’re now facing this other element of this pandemic where people don’t care anymore and don’t care about how this affects disabled folks. But I did like the accessibility that came through with being able to work more people working from home, more people being able to do that. And I just love being able to call my friends on FaceTime and then they answer and they’re like, Oh Yeah! You know?
I also did a few karaoke nights online. With my band, which was super fun. And I think there was this element of just kind of having to just make, make do with things and like band together with your people however you could, you know?
And, I don’t know, I think reconnecting with my friends was a big part of it and also just making things a lot more accessible in the regard of people going, “Oh, okay, well, we should offer maybe remote this or we should, if we do a show, have it be live streamed” instead of like… there was shows weren’t really livestream before the pandemic. And I think that’s really important for people to not think that’s a big deal to make it accessible for people who can’t come out. So yeah.
Dick: I used to love, I think some of them still do it, but the online drag shows were my jam. Because I’m not a big… I’m not a big party person, but I’ll, I’ll watch that in the safety of my own home. You know.
Vic: There was like a, like a 48 hour Beltane dance party facilitated by the radical fairies in the COVID year that was just like bumping music all day long. And it was incredible, you know, And people were logged in from all over the world. And if that hadn’t happened, then nobody’s going to schlep all the way over to the land project to go to the Beltane thing, it just made it. I felt myself being more connected to people even though there was isolation happening at the same time on purpose, right. You know, in quarantining and staying away from each other. But now I call my best friend almost every day and she answers and we chat. And it’s almost like, you know, I don’t know. I don’t remember how it was after us talking this much. And it feels like that the pandemic brought that to me and brought me closer with people, which was really cool. But I do love that art is able to be more accessible. I think people are still doing livestreams on a lot of the shows which I think is really important not to just drop the ball because, you know.
Dick: Right, right.
Vic: You don’t have to, but you should, you know, it gives me a lot of excitement for my band to do stuff like that, too.
Dick: Yeah. Yeah.
Vic: So I don’t know, I think there’s a lot of positive things that came out of the pandemic quarantine moment that are still kind of becoming known.
Dick: Yeah, Yeah, that’s for sure. Um, I guess for me, uh, uh, quarantine was really kind of a great time for introspection too. Like, I didn’t realize a lot of things about myself and around work and stuff too. Like I could retire tomorrow and be absolutely, like, I would find stuff to do. And I was like, stuff like this obviously is like something I’d rather spend my time on than maybe other stuff. And yeah, so that was really nice. But I really like being brought up connecting with people far away and like, I’m still kind of doing that. Like, yeah, it was totally normalized to Facetime which I have never been a big fan of, but now I’m like, Yeah, I love this. Like, let’s, let’s do that. Yeah.
Vic: It brought my band together too. I live here and they live in another city. And so we were, they were like, Well, how are we going to be able to do this band since you moved to the Bay and then quarantine hit and that we’ve met almost every week with some hiatuses or like breaks for the last few years. And I’m like, Mm hmm. See, see how that works and still be able to go there and still do stuff. And we produced two music videos during that time. More productive than in-person! So you know, I think yeah, there’s, there’s little silver linings to this giant you know… mess.
LAUGHS
Dick: Right. I don’t know. I had a great time. That’s all I need to say. This is fun. Um, it was delightful.
Vic: Yeah, it was awesome. I had a great time. It was really awesome to just work in such a wonderful environment and really just. I guess the only thing I can say is: make art.
Dick: Yeah.
Vic: Create things, connect with other people, decriminalize sex work, create more access for folks to be able to get what they need and be supported and how they need to be supported. And don’t let the wave of mutual aid that came through during the quarantine kind of lose momentum. When I say “mutual aid,” I mean like literally just showing up for each other and showing up for other people and redistributing wealth and making sure that people are checked in on and cared for. You know, we’re I think those are things that we can take forward from that point. And so, yeah, that’s my little soap box.
Dick: Yeah!
